Often a tooth is broken down so badly that a regular filling will not adequately solve the problem. For example, this is often the case with fractured teeth, severely worn teeth, and teeth that have been weakened in the past by a large fillings. Fortunately, the tooth can be crowned, which restores the case to its original form and function. These crowned teeth are incredibly strong and look very natural.
There are a number of materials that can be used to crown your tooth. Gold crowns, porcelain crowns, and porcelain fused to metal crowns are most common. Sometimes we are limited in our selection of materials and we’ll do our best to help you understand your options. At Buxton Family Dental, most of our crowns are all-porcelain crowns.
