It's very common to have lateral incisors that are "peg-shaped" or much smaller than is typical. Many adults end up veneering or crowning these teeth to make them blend in better with their smile. A veneer or crown on a child or teenager is something we try to avoid though so "bonding" the teeth with standard dental composite is a great solution at an early age. If done correctly these restorations can last many years. In this case an orthodontist positioned the teeth close to the ideal location. We completed the composite bonding and the patient then returned to the orthodontist for final positioning. Once the braces are off we can easily touch up the bondings to the patient's preference. Dr. Buxton has taken many continuing education courses on improving smiles in this manner!
